Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter 1030 Cumming Ga

Reflection
Message from President

Vietnam Veterans Chapter 1030 of Cumming, Georgia was established and chartered on September 9, 2009, when 27 individuals petitioned the National VVA to officially become a VVA Chapter.  The goal then, as it is now, is to assist veterans in need and to support various community projects.

We support various programs by raising funds through donations and holding two annual raffles.  We have a summer/fall raffle and a winter/spring raffle. The drawing for the Summer/Fall happens upon conclusion of the Veteran Day Memorial in Cumming in November each year. The drawing for the winter/spring raffle happens on the first Friday in April in front of the Station House restaurant in Cumming.  Our only financial support is through donations and fundraising raffles.

Our operating costs are extremely low and over 83.9% of the funds collected are used to support various programs such as Scholarships for high school seniors entering college, veterans in need, The Place of Forsyth, Jesse’s House, Baldridge Lodge for boys, AboutFace and other many other local charities and service organizations.  We also do volunteer work at nursing homes ensuring that “No Veteran is left behind” by providing entertainment like bingo or a meet and greet social hour with the veterans and we also volunteer to assist the USO at Hartsfield Jackson Airport.

Socially, we get together every Friday  at 7am for fellowship at the Station House in Cumming for Breakfast.  We meet every other month with our spouses and guests for lunch at the Golden Corral in Cumming.  For dates, please check our web page Event section for dates and times.

You may have noticed Vietnam era veterans wearing red shirts (Remember Everyone Deployed) on Friday.  This is a symbolic meaning that we will never forget our service members serving overseas as well as our POW’s and MIA’s veterans of all wars.  When you hear our greeting “Welcome Home”, a greeting many of us never received upon returning from our tour of duty in Vietnam, It is another way of saying “Thank you for your service to our country”.

If you qualify for membership and would like to become a part of our organization, we invite you to complete an application and submit your DD214 to take advantage of our Veterans Special whereas we will reimburse you the $50 one-time membership fee once your application is approved and accepted by the National VVA organization. There are no annual dues. You can download a form by clicking on the appropriate button below.

If you are a Vietnam Era Veteran and reading this now, Welcome Home.
